Portrait pictures: the Floral

Taking pictures with flowers are very easy to do. It’s very colorful and pretty. You can do so many different types of style when it comes to floral pictures. You can take pictures inside and outside. Taking pictures with flowers are one of my favorite pictures to edit because I can change the color of the flowers to any color I want. Today, I’m not going to be talking about how to edit a floral picture. I’m going to be talking about how to pose with flowers and best lighting.

What you’ll need:

  • A bunch of flowers

  • 18-50mm lens

My favorite area when dealing with flowers would obviously be outside. The best time to take pictures outside would be in the evening time because it’ll make the flowers look a lot better. When taking pictures with flowers, make sure there aren’t any dead ones. A hack for this could be instead of using real flowers, use fake ones. Sometimes in pictures, you can’t really tell if they’re real or fake.

There are tons of poses you can take with flowers. One of my favorite ones would be where the backdrop would just be flowers and the camera is focused on the person. Another one would be similar to the first one I mentioned but the model is holding a single flower close to their face. The lens would zoom in a bit to get a closer look of the flower and the focus would be the flower and model. Another pose would be where the model is lying down on the grass and there would be tons of flowers and flower petals around the model. Don’t have the model look like she’s dead. In order to do that, take the picture in different angles and not just from above.

The best pictures are when it’s very colorful and fun. So try to incorporate many colorful flowers into the picture. If you think colorful is too much to handle, then just try one color at a time but use bright ones. If you want your picture to come out as fun, then use colorful flowers. If you prefer dark and gloomy-like, then use dark color flowers.

When it comes to editing the pictures, you can mess around with the colors by changing the hue in lightroom or photoshop. I had a lot of fun using flowers as props and I really hope you try it out as well.
